Canadian Company Documents for Use in Türkiye
Canadian company documents for Türkiye: Corporations Canada, provincial business registries and which offices want a notarized copy first.
A Canadian company opening a branch or subsidiary in Türkiye usually needs registry documents with an apostille. Which office issues it depends on the registry the company belongs to, and the offices split roughly in half on whether a notary is needed first.
Registry documents that go as issued
Documents issued by Corporations Canada, the federal registry, are authenticated by Global Affairs Canada without notarization when they bear an original signature or seal. Ontario accepts business registry documents issued as of 1991 by the Business and Personal Property Branch or the Ontario Business Registry without notarization. In Quebec, company documents are requested from the Registraire des entreprises, as a copy of a document or a Certificat d'attestation.
British Columbia sits in between. Original documents from B.C. Registries and Online Services must be notarized in some cases, for example when they do not carry the Registrar's signature.
The other two provinces always add a notary. Alberta asks for corporate records as a notarized copy made by an Alberta notary public. Saskatchewan requires corporate registry documents to be notarized by a notary or lawyer for the Province before the apostille certificate is issued.
Before ordering, ask the Turkish bank, trade registry or notary which document it expects, so that the right certificate is apostilled the first time.
Translation for the Turkish side
The apostilled documents are then translated into Turkish in Ankara by sworn translators, and a Turkish notary certifies the translation where the receiving office requires it. The table shows the office for each jurisdiction we have verified.
