Utah Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye

Utah apostilles for Türkiye come from the Lieutenant Governor's office: what needs a notary, school and company papers, online requests and e-Apostilles.

In Utah, apostilles are issued by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, not by a Secretary of State. Its certificates verify the origin of documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates, court judgments and notarized documents.

The first question is whether your document needs a notary at all. Original public documents certified by State of Utah agencies do not need notarization; a birth certificate issued and certified by the state can go to the office as it is. A private document, such as a power of attorney or a declaration, can be authenticated once it has been properly notarized by a Utah notary.

School and company documents

School records must include the signature, name and capacity of the school official signing the document, so a transcript with only a printed seal is not enough. Company documents follow their own rule: they must be a certified copy from the Department of Commerce and notarized at the Department.

Requests sent by post now start online. All mail-in requests must be submitted online first; after completing the request online, you mail the original documents together with the order delivery form.

Utah also offers digital apostilles, also called e-Apostilles. Before choosing one, ask the Turkish authority that will receive your file whether it accepts an electronic apostille; the decision is theirs.

Translation in Türkiye

With the apostille attached, the document comes to Ankara. Translators sworn before a Turkish notary produce the Turkish version there, and a Turkish notary certifies it if the receiving authority asks for that. That authority decides whether it accepts the document.

For a Utah company certificate the sequence is: certified copy from the Department of Commerce, notarized at the Department, online request to the Lieutenant Governor's office with the originals mailed afterwards, then the sworn translation in Türkiye.
