North Dakota Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye
North Dakota apostilles for Türkiye: a two-agency process for birth and death records, certified copies, school acknowledgments and the cover letter.
The North Dakota Office of the Secretary of State authenticates documents for use abroad. Before it does, you must obtain a certified copy of the official document from the appropriate North Dakota entity, or have the document notarized by a North Dakota notary public.
Birth and death records: two agencies
For a birth or death record, North Dakota describes a two-part, two-agency process. The certified copy is first ordered from Vital Records, within the Department of Health and Human Services, and the order states that an apostille is needed and for which country. Vital Records then passes the request to the Secretary of State.
Other documents
Judgments, divorce decrees, probate wills and powers of attorney are among the documents the office lists; court records reach it as certified copies from the North Dakota entity that holds them.
School records need an original acknowledgment page listing the copies that will be attached. The principal, or someone with the same authority, signs that page before a notary public. Business documents such as company bylaws, articles and certificates of good standing are also listed.
The originals go to the Secretary of State with a letter specifying the country for which the document is intended; for Türkiye, name Türkiye.
The apostilled document is translated into Turkish in Ankara by translators sworn before a Turkish notary. If the authority in Türkiye requires it, the translation is certified by a notary, and that authority decides on acceptance.
