Ireland Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye

Irish apostilles for Türkiye: the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, original GRO certificates, court seals, CRO documents and notarised copies.

Irish documents are apostilled by the Authentication and Apostilles Section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Its offices in Dublin and Cork put physical stamps on physical documents; there is currently no digital service, and Irish embassies and consulates cannot issue apostilles. Applicants living abroad apply by post to the section in Ireland.

Document by document

For civil status, only original certificates issued by the Irish General Register Office are legalised: birth, adoption, death and marriage certificates.

Court documents, such as a divorce decree or a change of name by deed poll, must be dated and stamped by the Court Registrar or bear the seal of the court.

Educational certificates must come from a body recognised by the Department of Education or QQI. A photocopy is possible only if it carries the original wet ink stamp of the issuing authority.

For company matters in Türkiye, documents issued, signed and stamped by the Companies Registration Office are accepted as public documents. Private company papers, such as financial statements or board resolutions, have to be certified first. Documents issued by Irish government departments and publicly funded bodies are also accepted.

Where a document needs a notary, a notary public notarises it before it can be apostilled. A notary or solicitor who certifies a copy as true must state that they personally saw the original document.

After the stamp

The apostilled document then comes to us in Ankara. Sworn translators in Türkiye produce the Turkish translation, and a Turkish notary certifies it where the receiving authority requires that. The authority itself decides on acceptance.
