Alberta Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye
Alberta apostilles for Türkiye: vital statistics originals, divorce certificates with a court seal, school records and Alberta notaries for the rest.
In Alberta, apostilles are issued by Official Documents and Appointments in the Alberta Ministry of Justice. The office sets a specific condition for each kind of document, so the form of the document matters as much as the office.
For Vital Statistics documents, the apostille is issued for the signature of the director of Vital Statistics. A laminated or wallet-size certificate does not work: an updated original has to be ordered from a registry agent first.
Court, school and other documents
A Certificate of Divorce must be originally signed by the clerk of the court and sealed with an impressed court seal.
School and university records follow a different route. An official at the educational institution must certify the document as an official record or a true copy of the original.
Everything else goes through a notary. For documents such as powers of attorney, certificates of life, export documents or corporate records, the office asks for a notarized copy made by an Alberta notary public only. A notarization from outside the province does not meet that requirement.
The office does not accept documents in person. They are sent by mail or courier, together with the Apostille Request Form and the receipt for the online payment. Global Affairs Canada also offers an online tool that verifies whether an apostille issued in Alberta is valid.
Translation in Ankara
After the apostille, translators sworn in Türkiye translate the document into Turkish at our Ankara office. A Turkish notary certifies the translation when the Turkish authority asks for it, and that authority decides on acceptance.
