Louisiana Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye
Louisiana apostilles for Türkiye: which signatures the Secretary of State certifies, when a Louisiana notary is needed, and the Commercial Division.
In Louisiana the apostille comes from the Secretary of State, and the office is precise about what it certifies: the signature of a Louisiana official affixed to a State of Louisiana document. The officials it names are notaries public, ex-officio notaries, clerks of court and their deputies, sheriffs and their deputies, judges, justices of the peace and the registrar of vital records.
That list explains the rule for everything else. A document that was not issued with a certification, or that was certified by someone not on record with the Secretary of State, must first be notarized by a Louisiana notary public before the office will accept it.
Records that skip the notary
Records issued by the Louisiana Department of Vital Records, and documents issued by the clerks of court, do not have to be notarized. They must be the issued records themselves: the office does not accept photocopies.
University documents have their own route. Official transcripts and diplomas signed by registrars, presidents or deans of Louisiana state accredited universities are certified directly.
Notarized documents, such as a power of attorney for a property sale in Türkiye, must fully comply with Louisiana Notary Law. The notary's printed name and notary identification number belong beneath the signature; a document without them is returned for correction.
Company paperwork goes elsewhere. Documents recorded with the Secretary of State's Commercial Division, covering corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and trade names, are apostilled by that division on written request. Other requests are handled by the Commissions Division in person or by mail, and the mail-in service requires additional items.
Translation in Türkiye
With the apostille attached, the document is ready for us. Sworn translators in Ankara put it into Turkish, and a Turkish notary certifies the translation if the receiving office asks for it. Acceptance is the decision of that Turkish office.
