Iowa Apostille for Documents Used in Türkiye

Iowa apostilles for Türkiye: what the Secretary of State can certify, where federal documents go, and the separate single certificate.

The Iowa Secretary of State can certify only documents signed by an Iowa notary or an Iowa elected official. A document signed in another state goes to that state's secretary of state, and federal documents, such as a federal background check, go to the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.

How the request works

To request an apostille, you fill out the Apostille or Certificate Request Form and provide the office with a copy of the document. Requests can be made in person, by mail or through the Fast Track Filing System, which accepts electronic uploads.

The office does not perform any processing on the underlying document. It provides a separate piece of paper with the certification information and mails it back.

For Türkiye, keep the original notarized document, such as a power of attorney for a property matter, together with that certificate when you send both to us.

In Türkiye

Our Ankara office has the document and its certificate translated into Turkish by translators sworn in Türkiye. A Turkish notary certifies the translation if the receiving authority requires that, and the authority decides on acceptance.
